- Prosperity - developing countries cannot afford so much (an automobile society is not payable)
- shortage of foreign exchange
- number of the passenger cars in proportion to population
- even number of the bicycles in comparison to population often low
- lower street density
- lower space need for traffic 8% versus 40%
- Overloading
- quality of the streets often badly - Potholes galore! because no regular servicing
- in developing countries no means of transportation choice has many citizens - they must walk!
- Mobility of the women in comparison to mobility of the men
- age pyramid: many young people in developing countries in comparison to many old people here
- the FRG has car industry; Developing countries mostly not
- missing traffic planning expert's assessment in the general
- traffic projects are not financed from the outside -> co-determination of the financiers!
- Driving style, climate relations, cultural factors (e.g. womens role) different to ours
and also from developing country to developing country there are big differences!
Not all that would be different - common characteristics are, e.g.:
- Time budget of the people briefly
- everybody prefers comfortable traffic alternatives if all the other factors are regulated.
